Flash floods from heavy rain hit three districts in Surat Thani

Last evening, villages in three districts in Southern Thailand’s Surat Thani province were hit by flash floods as a result of heavy rain and native rescue groups together with the navy assisted residents in moving their belongings to higher ground.
Governor Wichawut Jinto and Chamnong Sawatwong, chief of the provincial catastrophe prevention and mitigation office, led the relief effort, which included territorial protection volunteers, soldiers from Infantry Company 25, and disaster relief personnel.
Residents were evacuated from Moo 7, 9, and eleven villages in Khian Sa district’s tambon Phuang Phrom Khon, the place the water degree elevated swiftly and flooded roughly 120 properties.
Soldiers assisted inhabitants in Moo 1 village, Tambon Sap Thawi, Ban Na Doem district, in moving their items to larger ground during heavy rain.
At Moo 11 village, a car from the Zone 11 Disaster Prevention and Mitigation office served as a cellular kitchen, preparing food boxes for distribution to impacted residents. The route between Khian Sa and Phra Seng was flooded and impassable to any vehicles.

A bridge on the road between Moo 5 village in tambon Thung Tao Mai and Moo three village in tambon Thung Tao in Ban Nasan district was damaged, and the route was closed.
The governor said that a central shelter for flood-affected folks might be established at Ban Sai Ngam School in Phun Phin district’s tambon Tha Kham.
He claimed the provincial irrigation workplace had been informed to build propellers on the highway 420 bridges across the Tapi and Phun Phin canals to assist drive water from the Tapi river in course of the ocean..
